Worship Confessional, July 4, 2010---Independence Day

This post is part of Sunday Set Lists over on The Worship Community Blog. It's where worship leaders share their Sunday experiences each week.

Today was one combined service.  We included elements of both services together today to make it feel like everyone had an expression in this Independence Day.  Especially since this day only falls on Sunday every so often ( in my years of ministry this is only the 3rd time, and I've been doing this for 23 years now)
Set Lists
Preservice--My Country 'Tis Of Thee (Instrumental)

Sing To The King (Foote)--I couldn't think of a better opener after that video.  It really set the tone for the morning.

All Hail The Power (Hymn ) --First verse only--flowed well from Sing To The King

Do It Lord (Walker)  This song has been our prayer for 2010.  I thought it was a good reminder half-way through the year that we are still praying for breakthrough in our country and in our church.

Offertory

The National Anthem
Prayer For America -we adapted Max Lucado's PRAYER FOR AMERICA that he prayed in 2001 after the terrorist attacks. It worked well.

America The Beautiful (G3Worship)--a laid back arrangement.  Really thought about a soul-stirring Ray Charles kind of thing but settled on this one.

Battle Hymn of The Republic (Burgundy Road arr.)  When Phillip Cole played me their version a year ago I said to him "Battle Hymn?  Really"  I am now convinced that Phillip and Burgundy Road has turned this into a worship song.

Morning Message-- Becoming A Healthy Church--The Sword and Shield (The Priority of Scripture)  Dave Bilderback

I Surrender All (HymnCharts)
